Mike Cusnir

Mike Cusnir M.D. was born in Bogota, Colombia. He graduated from the Colegio Colombo Hebreo and then continued with his studies at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana where he graduated as a Medical Doctor, top of his class. He continued his studies in Hematology – Oncology at the University of Maryland, Greenebaum Cancer Center (Baltimore, Maryland), and has been in practice in Miami for more than 15 years.

Mike is currently the Chief of the Medical Staff at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami, FL. He is also the Director of the Oncology Department of the same institution. He was named “Attendant of the Year” on several occasions in recognition for his time teaching internal medicine students at Mount Sinai Medical Center.

After doing extensive research with the Miracle Fruit and its benefits for cancer patients having taste alterations due to strong medications, he developed a line of dietary supplements to help patients cope with side effects of prolonged medical treatments.

Mike’s passion is teaching and being involved in the community. Mike served as a Board Member at Hochberg Preparatory School from 2012-2015, and he has welcomed Middle School students into his office for an internship in the field of Hematology. He also brought many science experiments to the Kindergarten and 1st grade classes at Hochberg Prep.

When he is not giving back to the community, Mike likes to be underwater scuba diving or up in the mountains skiing. He is married to Tania and has two children, Rachel and Meyer.

Mike is passionate about Jewish Education and has worked hard to ensure that Jewish children not only have a powerful Jewish identity, but also a love for Israel. In honor of their grandparents, Mike and his brother Henry Cusnir, donated a Sefer Torah to the David Posnack Jewish Day School’s High School.
